Brielle Reese is the newest addition to my friend Michael and Tiffany's family! She is only about three weeks old, but she is already super cute...so she definitely takes after her good looking parents! I have seen Michael and Tiffany date, marry, and now start their family and it is such a blessing to be apart of it all! I look forward to seeing this little one grow up because she's going to be a heart breaker! Here are a few of my faves!

Heather has been one of my best friends for the past five years and now she is getting married! Chris persevered in confidence and won her heart and their wedding is set for January! While I won't be shooting the wedding (because I want to celebrate too!), I did get the opportunity to capture some photos of the two of them! They were a fun couple to hang out with and I had a great time people watching, eating things that were probably never meant to be fried, and getting some great shots of these two! New Orleans

I am in New Orleans this week at a workshop! I haven't really spent much time in New Orleans before, but it's a very interesting city with lots of culture and some good food! I even saw Brad Pitt today riding down the street on a bike in the French Quarter....I kid you not! He actually rode by twice. That has probably been the highlight of my day today.....I usually see celebrities that are pretty non-relevant, but I would say Brad Pitt is right up there on my list of celebrities I wouldn't mind bumping into!
I am learning some great things here and we got to do some fun shoots this afternoon. There were brides all along Bourban Street with clusters of photographers all around them clicking away. We definitely drew a crowd today...you see a lot of things on Bourban Street, but that might have been a first! Here are a few of the images I snapped while we were out!

I was in Memphis last week for a shoot and catching up with some friends. There is always something about traveling to a new place for me....when the culture rubs up against you and you see things through different eyes....even when it's just a few states away. I always come back with a renewed sense of appreciation for my bed, but a sadness that I can't live in like 50 places at once and experience the diversity that this world has to offer!

There are many more travels to come over the next couple months including Kansas City, Lubbock, New Orleans, and Chicago! Pretty much all work related, but I will for sure manage to have some fun in there somehow! I will post some pics from Memphis this week, but for now I will leave you with a slideshow from Marq and Nina's Wedding which you can find here. Since we just did this wedding in Galveston mid-August I'm a little sentimental that it just got beat up by Hurricane Ike! I'm so sad for all of those people. Anyways, I digress, enjoy the slideshow!

My Dream Job

Ever since I was young I thought it would be such a fun job to be the person that comes up with the descriptive paragraphs on the back of products, like shampoo or body wash. I love to read them...it's a weird little quirk of mine. When you read them you feel like they are going to change your life once you use them. I leave the store feeling hopeful and empowered because in my possession is the body wash that is going to feel like "a gentle breeze fanning my skin with a tingly feeling." Unfortunately I felt no such thing, but it's a nice idea and I did smell really good. So while these products don't change my life, they are still fun to read!
When I started to wear make up in middle school I found a new dream job...naming makeup colors...which leads me to todays shopping venture. Whenever the seasons change...which is only like twice here in Texas...I love to buy new eyeshadow to go with the seasons. This fall I've decided that I'm going to stray away from my normal browns, pinks, and neutrals and link arms with the world of color. So today I stopped off at Nordstrom's (my affections for that store could take up a whole other post) and headed to the MAC counter, and my heart smiled as I looked through the eyeshadow and all their fun names. As much as I hate to admit it, I have even bought eyeshadow before because it had a fun name. I don't suggest making your choices that way! Anyways, I saw names like Swimming, Smoke and Glitter, Aquadisiac, and Digit and while some of them had nothing to do with the color it was attached to...it's just fun. I like to make it a game sometimes and see if I can guess what the name will be.
So that's my current dream job. Just thought I'd share some of the randomness that makes me happy! Below are my new fall colors....Club, Satellite Dreams, Kid, and Satin Taupe!

Dear Tyra,

The 11th season of ANTM has begun and you are as ridiculous as ever...between you and Miss J I don't know who is more out of control. But your ridiculousness is half the reason I watch the show. The other half would be the awesome photo shoots. So while I have to sit through your crazy shennanigans, like when you chased one of your models while pretending to be a moose or when you get that ultra dramatic tone when you're about to cut someone...it is worth it for some excellent inspiration. I feel like between the cage fighter model and the transgender model you will have your hands full this season...I look forward to the drama. Thanks for never failing to keep me inspired and entertained!

An Ode to my BFF for her Birthday

My besties birthday was this last Friday and so I had to give a shout out to her on the blog! If you don't know Kristen there is a little part of my heart that is sad for you because she is one of the best people I know, but selfishly...if you don't know her I'm a little glad because that means she gets to spend more time with me! hehe just kidding....sort of!
Kristen has sat in the pit with me and rejoiced on the mountain top next to me. With her I can laugh or cry, I can be silly or serious, I would trust her to decorate my house or pick out the dress I would wear to my wedding...she knows me that well. With her I can just be me...whoever that is in the moment....and that's not something you find everday. I learn from her on a daily basis and I laugh because of her on most days. She constantly strives to love Jesus more and her husband, Kent. She has recently taken up cooking and has introduced me to many great recipes. She speaks wisdom and truth in times when I need to hear it the most. She loves to go on adventures with me to the mall, the museum, or a new restaurant. She pushes me to be a better version of myself....even when she doesn't realize it. So Happy Birthday, Kris....you're the bestest and 27 looks fabulous on you!

On a not so random sidenote....for Kristen's birthday last weekend we had a Dallas day and tried a new restaurant called Rise Souffle and Wine Bar in Inwood Village and had some amazing souffle's for lunch. The atmosphere was really cool too! So if you're looking for a new epicurean adventure I would suggest Rise!

Server Down

The server that my website is on has been down since last Thursday. I've had my website go down and then go back up and now it's back down again. I also haven't been able to check my email due to this issue as well. They are working on restoring the server, but I will not be able to check my email nor will my website be viewable until they do so. Marq+Nina : Wedding

Sooo I'm back from Mexico and it is a little disheartening to return to the reality of life when you've been in paradise with crystal blue water and no cell phone reception...but alas...good things almost always come to an end. I think if I lived that way everyday though I would take it for granted so it's nice to be able to appreciate the opportunity of being in such a beautiful place....it can't help but stir up worship in your heart for the one who created it all!
The wedding unfortunately was not able to take place in Mexico as planned due to the cruise ship we were taking to Cozumel changing their itinerary the morning we were supposed to disembark. Sooo we basically threw a wedding together at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas in about 24 hours. If you are ever in Galveston you should stay at the Hotel Galvez because not only is it a beautiful hotel, the staff there was amazing and they were so accommodating. What could have turned out to be a disaster instead ended up being a huge blessing that allowed more family and friends to join Marq and Nina on this very special day! While a little crazy, it was one of the more fun times I've had in life and it was neat to see friends and family pull together to make this wedding happen and watch everyone take the lemons we seemed to be given and make some lemonade! Here is a little preview!

Marq and Nina are getting married in Mexico...and guess who is going??? ME! There is nothing better than a working vacation and hanging out with friends and sharing in their special day! These two just got engaged last week and we are leaving for Mexico in about 2 weeks so we had to get with it and do some engagements and bridals ASAP! Here is a shot from their engagement session and the minute I took it I loved it because I felt like I caught a moment of their story...and that's what I adore about creating photographs....and I love it even more in black and white! July has been a busy month! I am leaving town tomorrow again to go to Mississippi for a few days. I've been bad at blogging lately, but my NEW BLOG will be up in the next few weeks. Thinking music

I love music....iTunes is not a safe place for me. This week has been filled with editing and some time to think. June was crazy with weddings, but things are finally shifting down to a slower pace. Tomorrow I'm leaving to visit one of my best friends in Kansas City and while I will still be editing some sessions, it will be a good break to get away and see some new sights. Music changes with my moods and so as I'm able to slow down and little and take more time to "smell the roses" if you will, these albums have been all over my ipod this week. So check them out if you need some good thinking music.

Every winter I long for summer. Once January 1st is over....i think the sun should make it's way back on over to our side of the earth ASAP because I don't love the cold. But even more than not loving the cold, I just love the mentality of summer. For me it's late sunsets, margaritas on the patio, cute sunglasses, laying out by the pool, late nights of laughter with friends, forgetting what day it is, and catching up on some good reading! The summer is when I devour books. I've gotten a late start this summer due to so many weddings and trying to catch up with the pace of my life, but I'm claiming back my time to read. So my first book of the summer is A History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I hear it's good so I'm hoping to get through a lot of it tomorrow on my plane ride to Kansas.
After that though I'm looking for suggestions! I love all kinds of books from fiction, memoirs, history, inspirational....I enjoy a lot of it. So if you have a good book suggestion leave me a comment!

Casey and Chavon Taylor

I'm supposed to be getting better at blogging and I think I've actually been doing worse....ahhh! Anyways...last night my good friends Casey and Chavon got married! It's always a blessing to be able to capture a story that you've seen from the beginning. I have seen Casey and Chavon love well and struggle well and I can truly say that Casey is the perfect person for Chavon and vice versa. They shared some amazing words with each other during the ceremony that they had written themselves and I feel like it really brought the audience into their relationship if they had not been in it thus far and gave them a glimpse of what a marriage revolving around Christ looks like. It's gritty and real and in the same moment it is amazing and undeniably gratifying. So once again I am overjoyed to see another one of my girls be joined together with an amazing, godly man and it does nothing else but overwhelm my heart as to how great our God is to us! Love you guys!

There are about to be lots of changes!

1)First, my new website will be going up this week or next. It has all new stuff on it and I love my new site. The pictures are fantastically (is that a word?) huge. It really makes my heart happy!

2)Next, I quit my job teaching and I'm going full time with my photography business. If you know me or have worked with me then you probably know that I put up my first website last June, but decided to teach for another year thinking that I would slowly grow my photography business over the year. It didn't quite work out that way and my business kind of grew faster than I expected and so it's been a busy year full of challenge, excitement, and many sleepless nights. But I'm so excited to finally be able to devote myself completely to my business. I have lots changes in the works and all this new time I will have will allow me to turn shoots around faster, concentrate on marketing, and grow as a photographer. So to all my clients who were with me through the growing pains this year thank you so much for your grace and your patience this year! You are wonderful!

3)A new blog is in the works! That will be out sometimes in the next month or so. The images will be bigger and I will blog more often because again....I will have much more time!

4) Prices will be changing at the end of June so if you're wanting to book something at the current prices then let me know before the end of June! After that the new prices will go into effect!

Kristen and Kent....or Kensten...as I have fondly named them...are two of my best friends in the whole wide world. I have loved having a front row seat to watching their story unfold. What I'm Listening To.....

This post really has nothing to do with photography, but I'm branching out...what can I say. So... if you know me, you probably know that I am slightly obsessed with music....iTunes is a dangerous place for me. Music sometimes expresses what I often cannot...kind of like a photograph.....it's just good for the soul. So some of my favorites as of late are As Tall As Lions, Ingrid Michaelson, and Balmorhea.

Love, Love, Love (love, love) is my fave of the moment. This album is vibrant and smooth and has some great lyrics.

Ingrid Michaelson's newest albums is pensive and captivating, yet simple and comfortable to slip into. I love it!

This band is out of Austin and I actually went to high school with one of the band members so even more the reason to give props to this album. If you are a fan of acoustical/instrumental stuff then you should check them out because it will give you a fabulous break from the chaos of daily life. Am currently enjoying San Solomon and Greyish Tapering Ash on this Album.

I'm back!

Well I'm finally back from North Carolina! I'm soooo tired, but I had more fun than I even have time to tell you about. The place was gorgeous and the women I hung out with were so great and I learned a ton of new things. I want to go back! It was so nice not answering the cell phone for a week. I've posted a few shots I took and a shot that Kelly Moore took of me. We did a little America's Next Top Model one night with all of the girls in the freezing cold, but it was good times. I haven't been the greatest at updating the blog lately....the end of 2007 kept me extremely busy! I have lots of things I want to blog, but it's just a matter of sitting down and actually doing it. So I'm going to try to be better at it in the months to come! I will have some awesome bridals up this week so check back for that!

I will also be putting up a website in the next month or so. I have had my current one since June and am ready for something different. While this one has served me well...my new one will be a little more me. Meaning it will have more color and it will be more functional...so I'm excited! It will also have a ton of my latest work over the past several months as well. So all around I'm excited about the greatness to come for Lindsey Shea Photography. It should be up and running by the end of February.

For 2008 I'm looking forward to an exciting year! I am booked well into the summer with weddings to keep me busy and I look forward to see what happens this year with my business. I'll keep you posted on new projects I'm working on. Thanks again to all my clients who have been so great to work with this year and who get so excited about what I do....it's been such an encouragement!

Relevant

For some reason I have started getting random magazine subscriptions. US Weekly was the first one that came....which does not really excite me because I don't buy Hollywood gossip magazines because while entertaining I know I will waste my life away reading them. Then yesterday I started getting Relevant Magazine....which I totally don't mind because I like that magazine and wouldn't mind getting it in the mail every month. So the big looming questions are a) Why do I keep getting these magazines? and b) What will come next? Only time will tell....

But that's not really the point of this whole thing. The point is that I sat down on the couch last night to flip through the issue of Relevant that I just received and right when you open the cover you see the picture below. An advertisement for Sho Baraka's new album "Turn My Life Up". The fun part of it all is that I took the picture....and it's in Relevant....so now I'm in print. I know I'm easily entertained, but I had to share it...because...well it's fun!

Melissa and I went shooting around Las Colinas Friday night before the sun went down. Melissa works for Forbeyon, which is the company that designs my albums. It has been a great experience working with her as well as this company because they do a fabulous job. I just got my sample album a few weeks ago and it's smooth...and the great part is they did all the work! Rachel is one of my very good friends since college. I don't get to shoot the wedding because I am a bridesmaid, but I do get to do the engagements and bridals for her. Joey and Lindsey were a fun couple to work with because they would do just about anything I told them to do. These kinds of couples are always great to work with because they will try out the crazy ideas that go through my mind that the more camera conscious couples tend to cringe at, but in the end the pictures end up being a lot of fun and tend to have a lot of personality. Between these two there is a lot of personality to go around...they were fun to laugh with and it was fun making Joey fly through the air multiple times...for my own entertainment...I mean umm to capture the shot I was looking for. I will be heading to Indiana in late September to shoot their wedding and I look forward to it because it's going to be a fun celebration!

Ok...here's the dl on my website. It will be going live sometime on Monday!!! Alot of you have asked...so there is what "my people" have told me. My friend Jourdan is not only super beautiful, but she is also vey talented. She has a beautiful voice and we decided last night (or maybe I decided for her) that she is going to be the next Patty Griffin. Our shoot started out a little rough when we got hit by another car in a parking garage, but we obviously didn't let that hinder us from get anything less than "pictures that rock!" The lens kept fogging up giving the pictures a really interesting look. So I've gotten playfully scolded over the weekend by at least three people for not updating my blog lately. I kind of just assume that I'm the only one that reads it, but apparently I'm wrong! I just got back from a trip to Los Angeles to visit my friends Mindy and Billy. They moved to LA over a year ago to start a church in West LA. It's called Cityscape Community Church in case you know of anyone in LA looking for a church home! I had a great time with them and the weather was beautiful....so of course I had to take advantage of it and get some great shots of these two down at the Santa Monica Pier.
